Original design statement
Every geometric, southwestern-influenced or western motif sold by Saddleridge is an original design created for this store. Our products are not Native American or American Indian products and are not made by, for, or in association with any Indian tribe, tribal member or Indian arts and crafts organisation. We do not use tribal names, ceremonial symbols or protected iconography in any product, image or description. This statement is made in line with the Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990.
Material honesty statement
Where a listing says genuine leather the item is animal hide. Where it says faux leather (PU) it is polyurethane and contains no hide. A hide-look textile is described as a printed pattern, never as a skin. Fibre content is stated on every textile. We use only lawfully sourced livestock by-products and sell no exotic, wild, endangered (CITES-listed) or fur materials. This is our practice under the FTC Leather Guides and the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act.
01Our commitment
Saddleridge aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We treat that as a working target rather than a badge — the site is tested against it, and where it falls short we would rather say so here than pretend otherwise.
02What is in place
- Text contrast meets or exceeds 4.5:1 throughout. Primary buttons are around 13:1, well past the AAA threshold of 7:1.
- Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a visible focus outline that is never removed.
- A skip-to-content link is the first focusable item on every page.
- Every meaningful image has descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Headings run in order and describe the content beneath them, so a screen reader's heading list is a usable outline.
- Form fields have real labels, errors are announced, and error text explains what to fix rather than only that something is wrong.
- The filter result count and the add-to-bag confirmation are announced to screen readers.
- Motion respects the prefers-reduced-motion setting. With it on, scroll reveals and hover animation stop entirely.
- The hero video is muted, decorative and carries no information not also in the text beside it.
- Text reflows to 320px width and stays readable at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
03Known limitations
We would rather list these than have you discover them:
- The product photography is generated imagery used to represent each item accurately. Descriptions and dimensions are the authoritative record — if a photograph and the written specification ever disagree, the written specification is correct.
- The Ranch Room Finder is a multi-step interface. It is fully keyboard operable, but a screen reader user may find the direct product listings a faster route.
- Some policy pages are long. The sticky table of contents is the intended shortcut, and every heading is a jump target.
- We have not yet completed testing with every combination of screen reader and browser. JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver on current versions have been checked.
04Assistive technology
The site is built with standard HTML semantics and should work with any current screen reader, magnifier, switch access or voice control setup. It needs no plugin and no separate accessible version. If your assistive technology behaves oddly here, that is a bug on our side and we want to hear about it.
